Hey Andreea. Thanks for sharing this. I wasn’t aware that Vlad Tepes is a national hero for Romania. Hailing from India, a post-colonial society, we seem to have inherited the colonial version of the story which misrecognizes him as Vlad the Impaler. It is extremely interesting that Stoker was Irish and had his own country colonized by Britain. Perhaps, that allowed him to see how the colonizers dread all forces that speak truth to power.
